1. Another hot home business idea about 'games'...

This week I've conducted additional research on hot business ideas that could warrant the development of a brand new site, using the web tools already provided to you in a previous e-newsletter issue.

In particular, with the hotly anticipated fifth installment in the Harry Potter fantasy series, I wanted to evaluate whether the online market would reflect the 'new' reality, in terms of high Demand / low Supply.
Well, as expected, the Profitability Index for the search term 'harry potter games', is well above 250. But what's surprising in this brief research is the fact that you can still identify search terms with a profitability index well above 400 - and even with stronger Demand than Harry Potter's...

2. Contextual advertising with Google AdSense

If you decide to read this issue online, you'll notice that I now have a Google banner at the top of each content page.

Well, this is a new service for website publishers to display relevant, text-based, Google ads on their site's content pages and earn money. And because the ads are related to what visitors are looking for on your site, you basically have a new way to both monetize and enhance your content pages. The way it works is that Google knows what each page is all about, and then they can precisely match ads to each page.

By the way, I have already reached an average click-through rate above 5% - which seems to prove that contextual advertising does work.

3. "The Super Affiliate Handbook"

"Super Affiliate Handbook" Review 

I've just finished reading "The Super Affiliate Handbook", created by Rosalind Gardner and let me tell you that I've really enjoyed thoroughly studying it.

This new handbook is about selling successfully online other people'   stuff and Rosalind guides you through the entire process of building an affiliate marketing business on the 'Net and how to become a Super Affiliate.

The Super Affiliate Handbook gets started by explaining the 6 biggest Internet marketing myths, from getting-rich-quick to how anyone can make money online.

I particularly liked reading in great depth Rosalind's handbook, because this is what I do for a living online - i.e. "selling other people' stuff" via this email newsletter and via this site.

Particularly valuable was also her section on planning your web site and the importance on building a Theme Park... not a Mall (p. 159 et seq.).

Rosalind also explains in great detail (on p. 193) how she manages to get conversion rates of between 2.5 and 6% - when the average visitor-to-sales conversion is less than 1%.
This is the reason why she can afford to spend a few thousand dollars every month on pay-per-click search engines. You'll also notice that Rosalind doesn't spend too much time in trying to get high rankings with free search engines.
